Liberal Businesses

I am tired of seeing things like this in the parking lot at work or on the road. Close minded people running close minded businesses. We should come up with a logo and a saying like the Better Business Bureau's, "Start With Trust." Not bad. How about Open Minded Business, "Ethical, Liberal and Fair?"
Just a thought.

I'm often torn with the subject of bumper stickers. When it comes to companies, on the one hand I like knowing where not to take my business, even if I'm beyond irritated at the views the stickers espouse.
Coworkers, on the other hand are something I'd struggle to deal with.
I don't want to sound hypocritical, of course, and insinuate that somehow these folks don't have the right to their stickers and mixing politics with business. They do, but here's some food for though where hypocrisy is concerned:
Back in 2005 or so, when the ex and I lived in Petaluma, we got tired of all the liberal bashing there so made a bumper sticker which said "Conservative republicans may liberally kiss my ass."
The amount of aggression we were targeted with was astounding. People trying or threatening to run my ex off the road, countless "fuck-you's" mouthed at us and middle fingers galore, people making guns with their fingers and pretending to shoot us before speeding off, tailgating, and other. What irritated me most about these people was that we never tried running their asses off the road or pulling any of the stunts they pulled on us in spite of all their dumbfuckery via bumpersticker.
It struck me that this is same sort of person who points to the constitution and screams at how 'liberalism' with its support of big government is eroding away at 'freedom'. And yet, they seemed quite hellbent on denying me mine. I hear tons of support for the 2nd amendment from this crowd and yet when it comes to the first... *shakes head*.
We got tired of the bullying and so we made a second bumper sticker--given that we're both gun owners-- that said "Back off, righty! 'Gun totin' librrul"
Ex took them down when he caught two of life's winners trying to key his truck. He said it wasn't worth the danger that these bumper stickers invite.
So the terrorists won after all.
In terms of libby business, though, there are some resources. buyblue.org was one, but their site is undergoing maintenance. Airamerica.com might provide some resources.
I think there are a few websites out there dedicated to compiling names of business based on whether they support gay rights. I used to have a card for a venture capitalist firm in Sebastopol that was comprised of wealthy liberals, leftists, and democrats that were dedicated to investing in green and/or blue companies.
I have no problem with them advertising ideals, even if i disagree with the ideals. The only problem i have with the majority of hard-line right-wingers is the sheer hypocrisy of their willingness to mock and deride the people they disagree with, but yet become violently angry if anyone mocks their ideas, or sometimes even if a person merely disagrees. I think anyone who delivers and opinion should be shot!
